Canton Main Street Micro Grant application deadline of March 30th.

Canton Main Street is dedicated to making Canton’s downtown a vibrant and thriving center for the community. One of the four approaches used by the Main Street movement nationally is Economic Vitality. To support this approach Canton Main Street will be accepting applications for a $1,500 Micro-Grant. Application deadline is March 30th. This grant is designed to help entrepreneurs hoping to open a new business, or to expand their existing business in the Canton downtown business district. Applicants for the grant must demonstrate how they intend to use the funds to facilitate opening a new business, or how the grant will help improve services, operations and/or products for their existing business. The grant will be awarded after May 1st.

The award is a reimbursable grant. Funds will be distributed after the successful applicant submits receipts for expenses approved through the application. Examples of expenses that will be considered include, but are not limited to, computer hardware, software, inventory, first month’s rent, Point-Of Sale (POS) systems, and other legitimate business costs. Applicants must also include a statement outlining the impact the grant may have on the community if approved, such as increased sales tax revenue, drawing customers to the downtown area, addressing a need or service that is not currently being met, among other possible benefits. Applicants must be a member of Canton Main Street.

Canton Main Street plans to offer at least one more Micro-Grant in the Fall of 2024. Application deadline for this round will be announced at a later date. Unsuccessful applicants from the first grant may reapply.
