Per 415 ILCS Section 5/3.141 (Public Act 102-0631) Duck Creek Power Station Demolition Notice of Implosion Date Change:

Illinois Power Generating Company, LLC is publishing this notice, and update of the original notice of December 22, 2022, subsequent updated notice dated May 19, 2023 and subsequent updated notification dated July 13, 2023 for the demolition of the Duck Creek Power Station located at 17751 North CILCO Road, Canton, IL 61520, due to a change in the scheduled date and times for the boiler implosion portion of the project.

Implosions of the boiler building, turbine pedestal, and two chimneys will take place as follows:

New Chimney – September 17, 2023, 9:00 am

Old Chimney – September 17, 2023, 9:05 am

Boiler Building – November 4, 2023, 9:00 am

Turbine pedestal- September 17, 2023, 9:15 am

Note: If the weather is not suitable on this date (i.e., high winds, thunderstorms), implosions will occur the next day with acceptable weather conditions.

The power plant structures, and two chimneys will be demolished.

Regulated materials contained in the demolition scope including asbestos, mercury containing equipment, lead paint, and potentially PCB containing construction materials such as caulks have been abated. These regulated materials were transported and disposed of in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances.

The demolition work will be completed by Spirtas Company DBA Spirtas Wrecking Company, 951 Skinker Parkway, St. Louis, MO 63112.

No federal, state, or local permits are required for the demolition. A 60-day notice was filed with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) for coal fueled power plant demolition on December 17, 2022. A STATE OF ILLINOIS DEMOLITION/RENOVATION/ASBESTOS PROJECT NOTIFICATION FORM was filed with the IEPA Air Bureau on February 9, 2023.

The demolition will occur approximately 750 feet from an unlined CCR impoundment, which has only nominal material remaining. The closest CCR impoundment with material remaining is 0.6 miles away. There are no public water sources within the vicinity of the plant.

All contractors working at the site will follow all Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Duck Creek Power Plant Demolition Public Notice

Per Public Act 102-0631 (415 ILCS 5/3.141) Duck Creek Power Station Demolition Notice:

Illinois Power Generating Company, LLC plans to begin environmental abatement and demolition of the Duck Creek Power Station located at 17751 North Cilco Road, Canton, IL 61520 on Feb 24, 2023.

Demolition activities will take place between Feb 24, 2023, and Jan 31, 2024, during daylight hours. Environmental abatement will occur between Feb 24, 2023, and Mar 31, 2023. Structural demolition will begin on Mar 1, 2023, and finish on Jan 15, 2024. Implosions of boiler building, and two stacks will take place as follows:

New Stack – Oct 15, 2023, 8:00 am

Old Stack Oct – 15, 2023, 8:20 am

Boiler Building – Oct 15, 2023, 8:40 am

Turbine pedestal- Oct 15, 2023, 9:00 am
