Acquisitions Procedures

The Canton Area Heritage Center will collect, preserve, research interpret and exhibit the history and artifacts of Canton and the surrounding area. Items may be offered to the Heritage Center through the following procedure.

Acquisitions Procedures

Persons having an item for either a donation or loan should contact the Heritage Center at: 309-647-2242 (leave message), Mike Walters, 309-338-6272, or email, cahcpo19@att.net. You will then be contacted by a member of the Board. The person offering an item will then fill out a deposit receipt form to certify ownership and intention to donate or loan. The Acquisitions Committee will research item(s) and recommend action to Executive Board. Decisions are based on meeting center’s scope of collections, condition of item, non-duplication, available space, and more. Upon acceptance of the item(s), a form will be issued acknowledging your contribution. Every effort is made to ensure the safety of all museum items whether donated or loaned. A system comparable to Illinois State museums is used to record and identify each donor and item.
